# How much does AI interview software cost? Prices for hiring teams

Canonical URL: https://career1.ai/blog/ai-interview-software-pricing · Last updated: 2026-09-28 · Publisher: Career1 (Answerflix Ltd)

For employers, published AI interview software plans run from $49 a month to $1,999 a month, and one interview costs from well under a dollar to about $8, depending on format, volume and billing term. Several vendors, HireVue among them, publish no prices at all. Career1 starts free, then $49 to $199 a month for 25 to 150 interviews.

## What does each AI interview vendor charge?

Every row below comes from the vendor's own pricing page, opened on 28 September 2026 and linked so you can check it yourself. **Prices change; each row shows the date we checked.** Where a page offers several currencies or billing terms, the row says which one it quotes. Career1 is in the table on the same terms as everyone else.

A flat-rate unlimited option is offered, but its price is not on the page, which says "Schedule onboarding". 30-day free trial. | Per applicant, or flat | 28 Sep 2026 |

Read across the table and the market splits in two. Self-serve vendors print a price and let you start without talking to anyone. Everything above their top tier, and every enterprise-first vendor, is a quote.

## Which vendors do not publish prices, HireVue included?

These vendors were checked the same way on the same day. None of them prints a figure, so none is given here.

| Vendor | What its pricing address shows | Checked |
| --- | --- | --- |
| [HireVue](https://www.hirevue.com/pricing) | No prices, plans or numbers. It offers "Request Demo" and "Calculate your ROI", asks "Need help choosing the right plan for your business?" and shows no plans. It also states "Hirevue is free for candidates". | 28 Sep 2026 |
| [Sapia.ai](https://sapia.ai/pricing/) | No figures. It says its "pricing structure works on a per-hire basis": you can "interview and assess as many people as you want" and "only pay for the people you end up hiring", at a rate quoted after contact. | 28 Sep 2026 |
| [VidCruiter](https://vidcruiter.com/pricing/) | No figures: "Fill out the form to get pricing information". | 28 Sep 2026 |
| [Alex](https://www.alex.com/pricing) | Redirects to a demo booking form. Alex is the product formerly called Apriora; the [alex.com](https://www.alex.com/) footer reads "Apriora Inc. dba Alex". | 28 Sep 2026 |
| [HeyMilo](https://www.heymilo.ai/pricing) | Redirects to a demo booking page. | 28 Sep 2026 |
| [Tenzo](https://www.tenzo.ai/pricing) | "Get a tailored quote", with a demo form and no figures. | 28 Sep 2026 |
| [Paradox](https://www.paradox.ai/pricing) | Redirects to the homepage, which offers "Request demo". | 28 Sep 2026 |
| [micro1](https://www.micro1.ai/pricing) | Redirects to the homepage, now titled "Data lab to train frontier models & evaluate agents", with no AI interviewer and no price on it. | 28 Sep 2026 |

Figures for several of these do circulate: annual contract values for HireVue and per-candidate rates for others, printed on other vendors' blogs, comparison pages and review listings. None of them appears on the pricing page of the company that would charge it, so we do not repeat them. A price that cannot be traced to the vendor is somebody's estimate, often a competitor's, and it is the number most likely to be years out of date. If you need a HireVue or Sapia.ai figure, the only reliable one is the quote they send you. If HireVue is the tool you are pricing against, the products that replace each part of it are compared in [HireVue alternatives for hiring teams](https://career1.ai/blog/hirevue-alternatives).

## What does a single AI interview cost?

Dividing a plan's price by the interviews it includes gives the cost of one interview if you use every one that month. Where the vendor states that figure itself, the table says "stated"; where we did the division, it says "our division". The formats differ, so compare like with like: a 20-minute conversation, an eight-minute one and five recorded answers are not the same product.

| Vendor | Format, in its own words | Published price and volume | One interview, at full use |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Career1](https://career1.ai/pricing) | Spoken AI interview, about eight minutes | $49 for 25, $99 for 60, $199 for 150 a month | $1.96, $1.65 and $1.33 (our division) |
| [InterviewFlowAI](https://interviewflowai.com/pricing) | "two-way conversational AI" by phone or video | $59 for 20 credits, or yearly plans | $2.95, falling to $0.83 billed yearly (stated) |
| [The Cognitive](https://thecognitive.io/pricing) | "the same 20-minute interview the paid plans run" | $99 for 15 up to $999 for 225 | $6.60 down to $4.44 (our division); extra interviews $8 to $5 (stated) |
| [Ribbon](https://www.ribbon.ai/pricing) | "Video + voice" interviewer | $499 for 100 up to $1,999 for 1,000, billed annually | $4.99 down to $2.00 (our division); overage $4.00 to $2.50 (stated) |
| [Interviewer.ai](https://interviewer.ai/pricing/) | One-way video at 1 credit; conversational avatar at 2, on Professional | $199 for 50 credits; $399 for 120 | $3.98 one-way on Essential; $6.65 conversational on Professional (our division) |
| [Goodfit](https://goodfit.so/pricing) | "AI voice interview", one credit | $5 per credit, 200 minimum | $5 (stated), charged on completion |
| [Truffle](https://www.hiretruffle.com/pricing) | One-way video interview, 5 credits | Credit pools from $49 a month | "62 cents to $1.25" (stated) |
| [Mokka](https://www.gomokka.com/pricing) | "AI pre-screening interviews" | Pay as you go | $1.99 (stated) |

Two things follow from those rows. The spread inside each format is wider than the gap between formats, so a conversational interview is not automatically the dearer option. And the lowest figures on the page mostly need a yearly term or a large pool, which only pays if your volume is steady enough to use it.

## Per seat, per interview or flat: which pricing shape is which?

Almost every price above is one of three shapes, and the shape matters more than the number, because it decides what a quiet month and a busy month cost you.

### Per seat

The price follows how many recruiters log in. No vendor in the first table charges purely per seat, and several say outright that they do not: [InterviewFlowAI](https://interviewflowai.com/pricing) says its plans are "based on interview credits rather than recruiter seats", [Truffle](https://www.hiretruffle.com/pricing) and [Goodfit](https://goodfit.so/pricing) list no seat fees, and [Mokka](https://www.gomokka.com/pricing) offers unlimited reviewer seats. Seat caps inside tiers are common, though, and they bite when every hiring manager needs a login to review candidates.

### Per interview or credit

You pay for use: a price per completed interview, or a monthly pool that interviews draw down. Goodfit charges per completed assessment; InterviewFlowAI, Interviewer.ai and Truffle sell credit pools; Career1, The Cognitive and Ribbon sell fixed monthly bundles of interviews in tiers. This shape suits uneven or modest volume. Check what counts as one use, whether unused interviews roll over, and what happens when you run out.

### Flat or unlimited

One subscription, interviews unlimited or close to it. [Hireflix](https://hireflix.com/pricing) prices by company size with unlimited responses, and [Spark Hire](https://www.sparkhire.com/pricing/) sells video plans with unlimited interviews that vary "by company size". The marginal interview costs nothing, which is ideal for steady volume, but you pay through the months you are not hiring, usually on a yearly term.

### The two that fit none of the three

[Sapia.ai](https://sapia.ai/pricing/) charges per hire, so the bill follows your hiring rather than your applicant volume. [Willo](https://www.willo.video/pricing) Lite charges per live role per month, which suits a team with one or two roles open at a time.

## Which pricing shape fits 5 hires a year, and which fits 500?

A worked example rather than a benchmark: assume each hire takes 60 applicants and you want every one of them interviewed. Put your own number in place of 60; the shape of the answer barely moves.

### Five hires a year

That is about 300 interviews a year, arriving in five bursts with quiet months in between. What fits is anything you can switch off.

- **A monthly tier you drop between roles.** On [Career1](https://career1.ai/pricing), Pro covers 60 interviews for $99, so five one-month bursts cost $495 in a year, and you can return to the free plan in between.
- **Pay per completed interview.** At [Goodfit's](https://goodfit.so/pricing) $5 a credit, 300 interviews come to $1,500 before its 20 free ones, and its credits never expire, which suits bursts.
- **Pay per live role.** [Willo](https://www.willo.video/pricing) Lite's £49 per live role per month charges only for the months a role is open.
- **A cheap annual flat plan.** [Hireflix](https://hireflix.com/pricing) Small is $75 a month billed yearly, so $900 a year for unlimited one-way responses. Good value if recorded video is what you want, but paid through the quiet months.

What does not fit: annual contracts sized for continuous hiring, and tiers whose price mostly buys seats a team of two will never use. Whether a team this size needs any of it is worked through in [AI screening for small teams](https://career1.ai/blog/ai-screening-for-small-teams).

### Five hundred hires a year

At the same 60 per hire that is 30,000 interviews a year, about 2,500 a month. Per-interview price now dominates the bill, and nothing self-serve reaches it.

- **Career1 is the wrong size.** Its largest plan covers 150 interviews a month and there is no overage to buy, so its [pricing](https://career1.ai/pricing) is simply not built for this volume.
- **Published tiers top out well short.** [Ribbon's](https://www.ribbon.ai/pricing) Scale covers 1,000 a month, [InterviewFlowAI's](https://interviewflowai.com/pricing) Scale 505 and [The Cognitive's](https://thecognitive.io/pricing) Pro 225. Above that, each is a custom quote.
- **This is where unlimited and per-hire pricing earn their place.** Unlimited annual plans such as [Spark Hire's](https://www.sparkhire.com/pricing/), per-hire pricing such as [Sapia.ai's](https://sapia.ai/pricing/), and quote-only vendors such as [HireVue](https://www.hirevue.com/pricing) are built for this volume. The price will be negotiated, so the questions in the next section matter more than any list price.

## What should you check besides the price?

Two plans at the same monthly price can cost very different amounts in practice. These are the lines to read before signing anything.

- **What counts as one interview.** Career1 counts an interview when the candidate starts it, so one abandoned halfway counts and an invitation never opened does not. [Goodfit](https://goodfit.so/pricing) charges "only when a candidate actually completes it". [Interviewer.ai](https://interviewer.ai/pricing/) reserves a credit at the invitation, returns it if the interview is not completed within 30 days, and counts each retake of a one-way interview as a new interview.
- **What happens at the limit.** [The Cognitive](https://thecognitive.io/pricing) says interviews are "never blocked mid-conversation" and bills overage. [Truffle's](https://www.hiretruffle.com/pricing) Starter is a hard cap with no overage. Career1 pauses your live jobs until the allowance renews rather than billing more.
- **Whether unused interviews roll over.** [InterviewFlowAI](https://interviewflowai.com/pricing) rolls credits over on Growth and Scale, [Truffle](https://www.hiretruffle.com/pricing) from Core up for 12 months, to three times your pool, and [Interviewer.ai](https://interviewer.ai/pricing/) month to month. [The Cognitive](https://thecognitive.io/pricing) and Career1 do not.
- **The term.** [Spark Hire's](https://www.sparkhire.com/pricing/) applicant tracking system is annual only, [Willo](https://www.willo.video/pricing) Enterprise runs one to three years, and [Hireflix's](https://hireflix.com/pricing) listed prices are billed yearly. Career1 is billed monthly and can be cancelled from the workspace.
- **Whether the evidence is paywalled.** On [Interviewer.ai](https://interviewer.ai/pricing/), interview summaries and transcripts are listed on Professional, not Essential. On Career1 the scored report, the transcript and the recording come with every plan, the free one included.
- **Whether candidates pay.** They should not. [HireVue's pricing page](https://www.hirevue.com/pricing) says it "is free for candidates", and Career1 never charges candidates either.

## What does Career1 cost, and when is it the wrong price?

Career1's price is its row in the first table, and nothing sits behind a sales call. The free plan covers 2 interviews a month with no card, enough to put a real applicant through and read the report. Starter is $49 a month for 25 interviews, Pro $99 for 60 and Max $199 for 150, billed monthly. Every plan includes the scored report, the transcript and the video recording, and there is a [complete sample interview report](https://career1.ai/sample-interview-report) to read before you spend anything. Current figures are always on the [pricing page](https://career1.ai/pricing).

What the money buys is the first-round interview. The [AI recruiter](https://career1.ai/ai-recruiter) interviews every applicant by voice, in the browser, for about eight minutes, with questions built from the role and the applicant's resume and follow-ups when an answer is thin. Your team gets a ranked shortlist and decides; Career1 recommends and rejects nobody, and its scores are decision support, not a verdict.

It is the wrong price, or the wrong product, when:

- **you need more than 150 interviews a month,** because there is no overage and no larger plan yet;
- **you need an annual contract or an ATS integration,** since Career1 bills monthly and does not sync with any applicant tracking system;
- **you specifically want recorded one-way video,** where flat unlimited plans are cheaper per response at volume;
- **you interview in a language other than English,** because the interview is English only at the time of writing;
- **you need customer references or an independent bias audit before buying,** which a new product cannot give you yet;
- **you hire once a year from a handful of applicants.** Call them.

If you are still deciding whether any of this is worth paying for, the arithmetic of screening by hand is in [what screening applicants really costs](https://career1.ai/blog/cost-of-screening-applicants).

## How were these prices checked?

Each pricing page was opened on 28 September 2026 and read as served to a visitor, with no account and no sales call. Where a page shows several currencies, the row names the one it quotes. Where a pricing address redirects to a demo form or a homepage, the row says so rather than guessing. Nothing here comes from review sites, software listicles or one vendor's page about another.

We aim to re-open every page each quarter, and whenever a vendor tells us a row is wrong; the date in each row is the last time we did. If you find a stale figure, the [contact page](https://career1.ai/contact) reaches the people who can fix it. Career1 is not affiliated with any vendor named here.

## Questions people ask

### How much does AI interview software cost?

Among vendors that publish prices, plans run from $49 a month to $1,999 a month, and one interview works out at between well under a dollar and about $8, depending on the format, your volume and whether you pay yearly. Several vendors, including HireVue, publish no price and quote each customer. Free tiers exist too: Career1's free plan covers two interviews a month with no card.

### How much does HireVue cost?

HireVue does not publish its prices. Its pricing page, checked on 28 September 2026, shows no plans or figures, only a demo request, an ROI calculator and the statement that it is free for candidates. Annual figures for HireVue printed on other companies' pages cannot be traced to HireVue, so the only reliable number is the quote HireVue gives you.

### What is the cheapest AI interview software?

It depends on the format and your volume. For conversational interviews, InterviewFlowAI states $0.83 a credit on yearly plans and Career1 works out at $1.33 an interview on its largest monthly plan. For one-way video, Truffle states 62 cents to $1.25 an interview. For occasional use, free tiers and pay per interview plans usually cost less than any subscription.

### Is per interview or per seat pricing better?

Per interview pricing is usually better for a small team or uneven hiring, because you pay for what you use and quiet months cost little. Flat or per seat pricing wins when volume is high and steady, because the extra interview costs nothing. None of the self-serve vendors checked here charges purely per seat, but several cap seats inside each tier, so check the cap.

### Is there free AI interview software for employers?

There are free tiers rather than free products. Career1's free plan covers two AI interviews a month with no card and no time limit. The Cognitive gives new accounts two free interviews, and Goodfit gives 20 free assessments before its minimum purchase. Several other vendors offer a trial of seven to thirty days instead of a permanent free plan.

### Why do some AI interview vendors not publish prices?

Usually because they sell to large organisations, where the price depends on volume, integrations, contract length and procurement terms, and is negotiated. HireVue, VidCruiter, Tenzo, HeyMilo, Alex and Paradox all send a pricing visitor to a demo request, a quote form or a homepage. That is a sales model, not a sign of a high or low price, but it means you cannot compare them before a call.

### How much does one-way video interview software cost?

Published prices start at $75 a month billed yearly for Hireflix's small-company plan with unlimited responses, and Spark Hire's video plans start at $249 a month billed annually. Willo Lite charges £49 per live role per month. One-way tools tend to price flat, with unlimited interviews, whereas conversational AI interviewers more often price per interview.

### Are there hidden costs in AI interview software?

Rarely hidden, but often unread. The costs that surprise people are overage charges past a tier, annual terms that bill through months you are not hiring, credits that expire at the end of each month, retakes that count as new interviews, and transcripts or summaries reserved for a higher plan. Read what counts as one interview and what happens at the limit before you sign.

### What happens when you run out of AI interviews on a plan?

It depends on the vendor. Some bill overage per interview and never stop an interview midway, some set a hard cap with no overage, and Career1 pauses your live jobs until the allowance renews or you move up a plan, so nobody applies into a process that cannot interview them. Ask which of these a vendor does before a busy month finds out for you.

### How much does Career1 cost?

Career1 has a free plan of two AI interviews a month with no card. Paid plans are Starter at $49 a month for 25 interviews, Pro at $99 for 60 and Max at $199 for 150, billed monthly and cancellable from the workspace. Scored reports, transcripts and recordings are included on every plan, and a seven-day Starter trial covers five interviews.

### Do candidates pay for AI interviews?

They should not, and on the platforms checked here they do not. HireVue's pricing page states that it is free for candidates, Spark Hire's says applicants do not need a plan, and Career1 never charges candidates for anything. If a hiring process asks a candidate to pay for an interview, treat that as a warning sign.

### Is AI interview software worth the cost for a small company?

It is worth it when the first-round screen is what eats your time: dozens of applicants a role and nobody free to call them. It is not worth it when you hire once a year from five applicants, or when the real bottleneck is finding applicants at all. Price your own screening hours first, then compare them with the plan that fits your volume.

## About Career1

Companies use Career1 to screen applicants: every applicant takes an eight-minute spoken interview with an AI interviewer that asks follow-up questions, and the hiring team gets a score, strengths, risks, the transcript and the recording for each one.
