# What will they actually ask you?

Paste the job description. You get the questions this interview will really contain, what each is testing, and the follow-ups that catch a rehearsed answer.

Most interview question lists are generic. They give you the fifty questions someone might be asked for any job, which is the same as preparing for none of them. A real interview follows the posting: the interviewer has the requirements open and is testing them in order.

This reads the posting the way the person interviewing you will. It picks the requirements that are hard to fake, works out what a good answer to each contains, and tells you where a rehearsed answer gets caught. That last part is the one most question lists leave out, because it only becomes obvious after you have run the interview yourself.

## What the tool asks for

- **Job description** (required): The more of the posting you paste, the sharper the questions.
- **Your seniority**: Optional. Changes how hard the questions get.

## How to use it well

1. Paste the whole posting, including the requirements and anything about the team. Each predicted question is meant to trace back to a line in it.
2. Add your seniority, so the questions match the level of the interview you will actually have.
3. For each question, write down one real example from your own work before reading what it tests. Then check the example against it.
4. Say your answers to the push-back section out loud. Those are the follow-ups that catch an answer learned from a page.

To practise saying them to an interviewer that asks follow-ups, Career1's [private practice interview](https://career1.ai/ai-mock-interview) is free once a week, and the [ATS resume checker](https://career1.ai/tools/resume-checker) takes the same posting.

## Questions people ask

### How accurate are the predicted interview questions?

They come from the posting you paste, so accuracy depends on how much of it you paste. A full job description with real requirements gives questions close to what you will hear. A two line summary gives generic ones. Paste the whole posting including the requirements section.

### Will the interviewer ask exactly these questions?

Not word for word. Interviewers phrase things differently and follow the conversation. What transfers is the substance: the requirement being tested and what a strong answer has to contain. Prepare the answer, not the wording.

### What does 'where they will push back' mean?

The follow-up an interviewer asks when an answer sounds prepared rather than lived. Usually it is a request for a specific number, a trade-off you rejected, or what went wrong. Answers that survive that second question are the ones that get you hired.

### Is this different from an AI interview practice tool?

Yes. This predicts the questions so you can prepare on paper. To practise out loud, Career1 offers a free private practice interview by voice once a week, with written feedback, no score, and nothing shared with companies. The vetting interview is separate: one attempt, no retakes, and it becomes a profile companies can search, which you can hide.

### Does it cost anything, or store my data?

It is free with no account. Career1 does not save what you paste: the posting is sent to OpenAI's API to generate the questions, and the answer is shown to you and not kept.

## Where to go next

- [ATS resume checker](https://career1.ai/tools/resume-checker): Check your resume against the same posting.
- [Private practice interview](https://career1.ai/ai-mock-interview): Practise answering out loud, free, once a week, with written feedback. No video, no score, and never shared with companies.
